J Web Design (“we”, “us”) is a small web design business based in Penrith, NSW. This policy explains what personal information we collect through jweb.design, why we collect it, and how we look after it. We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
- Contact form and quote builder: your name, email, and anything else you choose to give us, such as your phone number, business name, current website, the pages you need and your message.
- Free website check: the website address you enter. If you ask for the full report, we also collect your name, email and (optionally) business name.
- Payments: if you take up an offer such as the website refresh, payment is handled by Stripe on their secure checkout. We never see or store your card details.
- Technical information: like most websites, our servers record your IP address and basic browser information. We use your IP address to stop spam and limit how many website checks can be run.
How we use it
- To reply to your enquiry, prepare your quote, and send the website check report you asked for.
- To send one follow-up email a few days after a website check report. We won’t add you to a mailing list.
- To deliver and support your website if you become a client, including hosting and care plan billing.
We don’t sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t use it for anything you wouldn’t reasonably expect.
Services we use
We use a small number of trusted services to run the site. Some of them store or process information outside Australia.
- Cloudflare, which delivers and protects our website.
- Trello, where we keep track of enquiries and projects.
- Our email provider, which sends and receives the emails between us.
- Stripe, which processes payments.
- Google PageSpeed Insights and Google Maps Places, used by the website check to test the speed of the website you enter and look up its public Google Business Profile.
- Microlink and thum.io, which take screenshots of the website you enter.
- Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude, which review the screenshot of the website you enter and comment on its design. They only receive the screenshot and the website’s public page details, not your name or email.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries and website check reports for as long as we need them to respond to you and manage our business, and then delete them. Website screenshots taken for the website check are temporary and are cleared out regularly. If you become a client, we keep your details for as long as you’re a client and as required by law (for example, tax records).
Cookies
We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies. Our website may use a small number of cookies needed for it to work properly and securely.
Your choices
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Just email us and we’ll help. If you have a concern about how we’ve handled your information, please contact us first. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
